All of my
hollow built
blanks are made using a
variation of the scalloped method
pioneered by E.C. Powell.
Hollows, or 'scallops', are strategically sized and located to enhance certain characteristics such as flex, strength, and vibration dampening. By
removing material from the inside of a section it is
possible to create a rod that feels more responsive, is
lighter in weight and recovers more quickly. Hollow rods are
often described as 'snappier' or 'more crisp' feeling.
