DynaRod was conceived and created by Max Satoh. Max was born in 1946 in Japan and started his fishing journey when he was 5 years on seated on the lap of his father. His education was primarily in computers and technology and he worked for IBM Japan as a systems engineer for 20 years. Max began learning bamboo rodmaking in 1997 at Masato Hirata's rodmaking school and credits learning much of the craft from conversations with other bamboo rodmakers on the Rodmaker's Listserv. In 2002 he had the pleasure of attending the Rod Makers at Grayrock in Grayling, Michigan where he was able to make many friends and meet some of the people he knew from the Listserv as well as contributing to the 2002 Makers' Rod. Many years of his attention and care resulted in a licensed version of DynaRod being released in 2006. In 2019 Max spent a lot of time upgrading the program to work with newer versions of Office and Windows and adding additional functionality for longer, two-handed rods.  In September he graciously donated the full version of DynaRod v3.3 for free use by bamboo rodmakers worldwide.

A special THANK YOU goes out to all the individuals who have contrubuted tapers to the DynaRod archive, especially Jerry Foster and Wolfram Schott.

I have worked with Max over the past few months to put together a place to host the DynaRod download and to help put together a site where it can be permanently accessable and freely distributed to bamboo rodmakers who are interested in utilizing its unique and powerful design and evaluation tools. I have been using DynaRod since 2007 and I encourage all bamboo rodmakers to download it and experiment.  Have fun!
