Function General

This page calculates several rod metrics according to the specified assumptions on the panel. As the calculation is made each of 5 movement phases, the computer will need a bit of time to complete an entire process, about 20 to 30 seconds according to the type of computer. The progress is shown at the status bar at the bottom if the screen is maximized.

Status of screen display

When opened this function, if the excel output for the rod is already made before, the screen shows the contents of existing file.

If this function is first used for the rod, blank casting style panel is shown. User must complete the definition of casting style at first.

How to use

Just press [CALCULATE] button after making sure the calculation assumptions are as you desired.

As this is the most time consuming calculation, it is recommended to maximize the screen and show the status bar at the bottom of the window. Status bar shows you the progress of calculations. It would take about 20 or 30 seconds according to the PC's speed. If status bar is not shown, you PC might look like in trouble, no move during calculation. Just wait in the case.

Data on the screen

Item	Meaning
Basic Rod Specs.	green labeled fields cannot be changed on this panel

Variables	user can change these fields below and calculate for various kind of simulations. The change of these fields below will not be kept in the Archive.

used Bamboo	When Hollow is selected, this field is changed to "Hybrid" automatically.
Action Length
Cross Section
Solid / Hollow	select Solid or Hollow When Hollow is selected, Used Bamboo field is changed to "Hybrid" and [Section Specification] button becomes visible. Users need to define Hybrid section specification via the displayed [Section Specification] button.
Line Weight
Line to Fish	when casting style is "Hooking the Fish", the fish location is assumed as half of this field. It determines the angle of fly line which is pulled by the fish.
	The fields below will update the Archive if changed.
Weight	user can specify here the weight of Fly or lead shot
Fish Weight	specifies the weight of the fish
