Information

All the guide spacing formulas used here are based on the same basic principle: Gradually increase the distance between each successive guide. The amount of the increase is the Increment (i).

Clemens spacing is based on two 'anchor' guides (first and last).

User defined variables:
Rod Length : rl
Number of guides : ng
First Guide Position : fg
Last Guide Position : lg

Calculated variable:
Increment : i = [ ((rl - lg) - fg) - (fg * (ng-1)) ] / [ (ng * (ng-1)) / 2 ]

Cattanach spacing is based on an 'anchor' guide (index) and an increment value.

User defined variables:
Number of Guides : ng
Index Guide Position : ig
Distance to Index Guide : di
Increment : i

Calculated variable:
First Guide Position : fg = [ di - (ng * i) ] / ig

Hybrid spacing is based on two 'anchor' guides (first and index).

User defined variables:
Number of Guides : ng
First Guide Position : fg
Index Guide Position : ig
Distance to Index Guide : di

Calculated variable:
Increment : i = [ (di - fg) - (fg * (ng-1)) ] / [ (ig * (ig-1)) / 2 ]

All methods then calculate the guide positions (g1..gng) as follows:
gn = g(n-1) + fg + (i * (n-1))
